William Davis Professor Caroline Champman English 121 6 September 2015 Twelve Angry Men In the "Twelve Angry Men" (directed by Sidney Lumet and produced by Henry Fonda), you will see that to obtain justice you must make a choice. This story takes place in New York City where an eighteen year old boy is on trial for stabbing his father and killing him. The jury leaves it up to the twelve jurors to decide the fate of this boy. As soon as they start all of them immediately decide his guilty. Lucky enough there's one man who renders this boy not guilty because he thinks they should all take it seriously and spend some time thinking about the loads of evidence before them. Once juror 8 said that everyone became so annoyed, it all went out of control but soon enough they all sat down and discussed it. The jury foreman makes the jurors tell their side of the story as to why the boy should be guilty or not guilty. Everyone goes around and give their statements. Juror eight tells his side, although it still isn't enough. This then goes on for hours compelling them to change their answers. Evidence is brought into the room because juror eight recalled about the weapon the 18 year old boy stabbed with. The weapon was a switchblade, a switchblade the juror 8 has an identical copy of. Once that blade is shown the jurors freak out. They continue talking about the significance of the blade. In later events the jurors just want to quit talking and go home but juror eight decides that before they all go they should give a secret ballot saying guilty or not guilty and if it turns up that someone new says not guilty then they continue. Crazy as it is juror 9 is the one who continues this discussion because of all that's said by juror 8. Juror 3 gets very angry at the continuation. Juror 5's vote changes when juror 8 talks about an elderly man who hears the boy yell " I'm going to kill you", when the old man testified he said he couldn't hear clearly what was being said because of a passing train. So he changes his vote. Soon enough juror 11 questions whether the young man left the scene then come back in 3hours to clear off the fingerprints. Juror 11 joins juror's 8, 9, and, 5. The old man is brought up a gain because he made a second claim about the young man running to the door in fifteen seconds. Not enough evidence is really proven upon this fact so juror eight says it's impossible and juror 3 gets upset and says " I'll kill him", meaning he would kill the boy because he doesn't really cares if he dies at all. Juror 2 and 6 also decide not guilty. By doing that they are at a tie of 6-6. Suddenly juror 7 isn't happy because a rainstorm happens and those baseball tickets of his are out of use. Juror 4 argues that he doesn't believe the boy's alibi. The alibi was the on the night of the murder he went to a movie with his friends. Juror 4 doesn't believe the boy even remembers the movie. Juror 8 tells him that he must have been under emotional stress. Later Juror 8 asks juror 4 about what he remembers, which proves his point later. Juror 2 questions how a 5'7" person can stab down a 6'2" person. Juror's 3 and 8 experiment on it and find it's possible. Juror 5 shows up and tells them about his experience with switchblade knifes and shows them how the switchblade is properly used which makes a 5'7" person killing a 6'2" person possible. Juror 7 quickly decides to vote not guilty just because he wants this discussion to end but jurors 3 and 11 push him to really think about his decision so that it's not just on rational thinking. Juror 7 makes up his mind and votes not guilty. Two more jurors decide not guilty only leaving three people left. The two jurors were 12 and 1. Juror 10 gets fierce and tells his reasons. The rest

That’s fine for herbivores who want to live to see another day, but what about for us bloggers? What if you picked out the pattern that all blog headers should be blue  because you noticed a plethora of blue header graphics and can’t really remember anything else? Sometimes you need a distillery. (No, I do not mean you need to go get a drink). In this post, we will boil down to the very basics of blogging. Well enforce three core blogging concepts and will show you how to run a successful blog. Let’s forget hedging our bets so you can get a clear picture instead of a blurry pattern. 1. Write The Blog Post Fact:  You have to write blog posts if you’re going to blog. Real-world Realization:  Writing is hard work. It’s not shovel-ready work, it’s not elbow grease, but it’s work that strains your brain. Writing successful blog posts means you’re facing several decisions about what and how you will create the copy. While there’s truly no wrong approach to how you'll resolve these decisions when you are sincerely trying to do your best, this post is all about distillation. Let’s reduce all of those legitimate options and cut down to the bare bones of blogging. What should my blog posts be about? (Ideation.) Your post should be about one specific thing, and then three things related to that one thing. In other words, it’s about the idea of core content and peripheral content. If you blog about baking, that is your core. You’ll spend most of the time writing about the recipes and things you bake. Three related topics to that core content might be talking about handy kitchen tools, ingredient reviews, and new cookbooks. Your post  should be about something you love and believe in. If either of those  are lacking, writing will not be enjoyable work; it will be dreaded drudgery. What should my specific post be about? (Focus.) Your blog post should be specifically  focused, not generally. You are not writing about every kitchen mixer, but a specific kitchen mixer. You are not writing about everything you can do with email marketing, but about a specific email marketing technique. You might have lost specific focus if: You have more than three level two headings. Your post is much longer than you planned. You are having trouble writing a conclusion or call to action (we’ll talk about that next). Your introduction or thesis statement doesn’t make sense with what is in the body of the post. How long should my blog post be? (Depth.) Everyone has their own opinion, and there are many different right answers to the question of blog post length. But let me give you one to start from: 1,000 words (give or take a hundred). In those 1,000 words, your blog post should contain: An introduction:  You will tell your reader what you’re about to say in the blog post introduction. An argument:  This is the main body of your post, where you present information to the reader. That information should have: At least three links to your own content. At least one link to scholarly or research-based content. At least one link to quality outside content. A conclusion:  You will tell your reader what you just said. A call to action:  You will give the reader something to do with a call to action. What should my blog post look like? (Appearance.) Your blog post should have: A great headline:  about six to eight words long. The most exciting words come at the beginning of the headline. Three  level two headings: If it has a third level of subheading, try to have a few for each level two heading. At least one pull quote or tweetable quote:  This helps with blog promotion, which we talk about next. Here is an example: Aim for having at least one tweetable quote in your blog post. #blogging #SocialMediaGive your reader lots of white space by keeping your paragraphs to no more than three sentences each. Having headings, lists, and white space is all about people being able to scan your blog. How many images should I have in my post? (Appearance.) You must have at least one image. That image should: Be a â€Å"hero† image (strong enough to stand on its own outside of the context of your post). Have either your URL or your Twitter handle on the image. This is in case your image is orphaned via Google image searches or image social networks like Pinterest. Be sized to fit the majority of social networks. “I’m Still Here” by Veronica Ross Essay

Courageous and full of determination, Jake Garson in one of the short stories I’m Still Here, written by Veronica Ross, shows the set of characteristics that many Canadians regard as expressing their unique place and role in the world. He tried to fight and stand up for his own rights against the government through his act of bravery. By doing this, he had influenced many people in his hometown that faced the same situation as Jake; however, they did not show the same kind of courage that Jake showed. Readers who like to reevaluate and rethink what they are reading are recommended to read short stories such as I’m Still Here. It is one of the stories that teach us the moral lessons of standing up for yourself without anger or violence and to have a positive attitude at all times. This is one of the effects it had made to the short story. Some other effects also include a slow beginning introduction with an unpredictable ending. The author also does an excellent job of capturing the reader’s interest through plots twists, characters, theme, symbolism and much more, which made an effective short story. Although the use of vulgar language had made an unattractive impression, it showed the characteristics and emotions of the character inside the story, which made it more alive for the readers to read. Kezia, the main character from the short story The Wedding Gift, written by Thomas Raddall had a similar situation like Jake. Both of the short stories teaches us the moral lessons of standing up for yourself. Courage and bravery was something Jake had successfully shown in the short story. â€Å"Glad to see you’re standing up for your rights. We had the same thing happen to us, but we didn’t have your courage. Good luck† (Ross 201). In the story, the government wanted to take away his land with fair compensation being paid. However, Jake was not caring about the money; he was determined to stay because he was born on that land and it had been in the family a hundred and eighty years. His roots are there so losing it would be like losing a part of him. Although it looked like a foolish act to do, it had influenced many people in his hometown. All the children came and said the same thing, â€Å"that Jacob Garson was a hero, a man brave enough to stand up for his freedom. And that they were behind him† (Ross 201). However, not all people supported him. They were others who thought he was being selfish and tried to threaten him. â€Å"We’ll burn your house down, you  fool† (Ross 199). â€Å"Your land could be enjoyed by all, you selfish son of a bitch† (Ross 202). Nevertheless, those people did not make a successful interference toward him. With this bravery attitude and act of determination, it had made an effective short story that teaches readers a great moral lesson.
